When operating the top,
make sure that the space
available is sufficient for safe
performance of the procedure and
that there are no objects in the way or
persons near the moving parts. In the
event of a hazard, release the top
operation pushbutton to stop its
movement. Do not place hands near to
the top’s levers, in its housing, on the
upper edge of the windshield or
between the top and its cover.
WARNING Do not stop the opening or
closing procedure when the top is in
the mid position because, after several
minutes with the ignition key in the
MAR position or turning the key
immediately to the STOP position, he
pressure drops in the hydraulic circuit
and the top top is released, dropping
forward or backward, thereby causing
possible damage.
WARNING At the beginning of the top
opening or closing procedure, always
ensure that the door windows have
lowered automatically. If not, release
the top operation pushbutton and
lower both door windows using the
respective pushbuttons or open the
doors slightly.
WARNING Before disconnecting the
battery, lower the side windows by
about 4÷5 centimeters, in order to
avoid damaging the top strips when
opening and closing the doors. When
the battery is connected and loaded,
this operation is carried out
automatically upon opening and
closing the door. The windows must
remain lowered until the battery is
connected once again. If the battery
runs flat when the windows are fully
raised, open the door only if necessary
and taking utmost care. Do not close
the door as long as the window cannot
be lowered.
WARNING After reconnecting the
battery, before operating the top, raise
the windows fully in order to allow the
ECU to be reactivated correctly.
Opening and closing
WARNING The top must be operated
with the vehicle stationary, the
handbrake engaged and, as a general
rule, with the engine idling.
The operation must be carried
out outdoors. Exhaust gases
contain carbon monoxide
which is strongly toxic and potentially
lethal.
If necessary, (e.g. procedure performed
indoors), the manouver can be carried
out with the engine off and the
ignition key in the MAR position.
The top opening or closing procedure
is admissible only if all of the following
conditions occur:
1) Vehicle stationary with handbrake
engaged.
2) Engine and luggage compartment
lids completely closed.
3) Ignition key in the MAR position.
4) Windows fully up.
